Lopez Takes "Dance Lessons"
Thursday, October 30, 2003 7:24 AM EST
On the heels of completing work as the teacher in "Shall We Dance?" for Miramax/Spyglass, Jennifer Lopez has agreed to develop "Dance Lessons" at Paramount as a potential starring vehicle.
Exactly what kind of dancing would be involved in "Dance Lessons" is an intriguing question, since the project is described as a cross between "Footloose" and "The Full Monty".
The project is the first bigscreen deal made for Lopez since she appeared with beau Ben Affleck in Sony's "Gigli". "Shall We Dance?", a remake of the 1996 Japanese hit, also stars Richard Gere and Susan Sarandon, and is expected to be released next summer.
Lopez is due to appear in two other Miramax projects -- Lasse Hallstrom's "An Unfinished Life", opposite Robert Redford, and Josh Lucas and Kevin Smith's "Jersey Girl", co-starring with Affleck -- and plans to star in New Line's romantic comedy "Monster in Law", with Robert Luketic directing.
