Otto, Tyrese Join "Phoenix" Remake

"Lord of the Rings" veteran Miranda Otto is in negotiations to star opposite Dennis Quaid in the 20th Century Fox remake of "The Flight of the Phoenix". Otto will play a geologist in the action thriller.
In other "Phoenix" news, "2 Fast 2 Furious" star Tyrese will join Quaid, Giovanni Ribisi and Jared Padalecki in the John Moore-directed pic.
The original 1965 "Phoenix" revolved around a plane crash in a North African sandstorm and the efforts of the crew to build a plane from the wreckage. The updated version represents a reinvention of the original, with contemporary circumstances set in the Mongolian desert.
Tyrese took the job as the tinkering continues on "Extortion," the drama he'll star in for Universal. Tyrese will play a detective who investigates his foster brother's murder.
Otto can be seen on the big screen December 17th in the final installment of the "Rings" trilogy, "The Return of the King".
