Eckhart/Kilmer/Schweig Join 'The Missing'
Friday, March 14, 2003 10:01 AM EST
Aaron Eckhart, Val Kilmer and Eric Schweig have joined the cast of Revolution Studios' Western "The Missing," which Ron Howard is helming in New Mexico.
The film, set in 1885 New Mexico, stars Cate Blanchett as Maggie Gilkeson, who teams up with her long-estranged father (Tommy Lee Jones) to track down her daughter, who was kidnapped by a psychopathic killer. The two must catch the killer and his band of outlaws before they reach the Mexican border.
Eckhart, who next appears in Paramount Pictures' sci-fi actioner "The Core", will play Brake Baldwin, who runs Blanchett's character's ranch and is her love interest. Eckhart recently landed a lead role in John Woo's actioner "Paycheck" for Paramount. He also will appear in Paramount's "Suspect Zero" later this year.
Schweig will play the pic's murderous villain, Chidin, who with his brutal pack of Army deserters has kidnapped a group of teenage girls. His credits include Disney's "Tom and Huck" and "The Scarlet Letter" and Fox's "The Last of the Mohicans".
Meanwhile, Kilmer, who resides in Santa Fe, where "Missing" is shooting, has a cameo role in the pic as a general.
