Branagh Hired For Second 'Harry Potter' Film
Thursday, October 25, 2001 12:47 PM EDT
Shakespeare specialist Kenneth Branagh has landed the part of Gilderoy Lockhart in the second Harry Potter film, Variety reports.
Branagh's character in "Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets" is a gold-haired, charming, self-promoting wizard who becomes an instructor at Hogwarts School, where wizard-in-training Potter learns his craft.
"Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone", the first film in the proposed series adapted from author J.K. Rowling's popular books, is due to open in theatres November 16th.
The principle cast from "Sorcerer's Stone" is expected to reprise their roles for "Chamber Of Secrets," Variety said. The second film begins primary production two days after the first movie opens.
