The first "Harry Potter" film hasn't even reached theatres yet, but director Chris Columbus has confirmed that work has already begun on the sequel.
The British movie magazine Empire said Columbus recently contacted them to dismiss some of the many rumours circulating about his adaptation of J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter And the Sorcerer's Stone".
Columbus confirmed that filming has begun on "Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets," and that production on the project is expected to run for 120 days.
But reports that Hugh Grant ("Four Weddings And A Funeral") or Alan Cumming ("The Anniversary Party") have been cast as Guilderoy Lockhart are false. Columbus said he expects casting will be announced by mid-November.
Columbus also confirmed he is considering making all seven "Potter" films back-to-back and added there may be a director's cut of "Sorcerer's Stone" on DVD, depending on how much gets cut from the theatrical release.
Rumours that some scenes from the film had to be ditched because the cameras accidentally captured some nude bathers, however, are false, Columbus told Empire.
