Michael Jackson’s This Is It Tops Box Office

Michael Jackson’s This Is It was the top movie at the box office earning an estimated $21.3 million — $32.5 million since opening on Wednesday. Combined with international figures the movie, which chronicles Jackson’s preparations for his planned “This Is It” concert tour before his sudden death this summer, has earned in excess of $101 million.
Dropping to 2nd for the weekend was Paranormal Activity, which added another $16.5 million. The movie has earned more than $84.7 million after 6 weekends in release.
In 3rd place with $7.3 million was Law Abiding Citizen starring Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx. The movie has earned $51.3 million after 3 weekends in release.
Rounding out the top 5 movies were Couples Retreat in 4th with $6 million ($86.6 million to-date) and Saw VI in 5th with $5.5 million ($22.8 million to-date).
Next weekend’s new releases include A Christmas Carol directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Jim Carrey, The Box starring Cameron Diaz and James Marsden, The Fourth Kind with Milla Jovovich and The Men Who Stare at Goats starring George Clooney.
