Neeson/Cooper in A-Team Movie
As reported a few weeks back over at IESB, the Trades are confirming today that Bradley Cooper will play Templeton “Faceman” Peck in The A-Team based on the hit 80s TV series. Additionally, it is being reported that Liam Neeson is in negotiations to star as John “Hannibal” Smith.
The show, which ran from 1983-87, starred George Peppard as Hannibal, Mr. T as B.A. Baracus, Dirk Benedict as Faceman and Dwight Schultz as Murdock. The series followed the exploits of a team of Vietnam vets wanted by the military — for a crime they didn’t commit. Their adventures combined helping the innocent while running from the law. Joe Carnahan will direct the project which is expected to begin production in August for a June 2010 release.
Cooper is currently in theaters in The Hangover. Neeson most recently completed work on his role as Zeus in Clash of the Titans starring Sam Worthington.
(As an aside, what’s up with how busy Liam Neeson has been? John Travolta’s son died in January this year and he isn’t ready to come back, declining to participate in press for his upcoming Taking of Pelham 123. Neeson’s wife died in March and he’s made Titans and is now signing for A-Team. Not that I have a problem with that, it’s just odd how the world works sometimes.)
