Chris Hemsworth is Marvel’s Thor

According to Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood Daily, Chris Hemsworth has been cast as Thor in Marvel’s upcoming movie based on the comic book character.

Hemsworth is probably best recognized in this hemisphere for his role as George Kirk (James Kirk’s father) in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek. Hemsworth hails from Australia where he had a successful career in  television, starring in the series “Home and Away”.

Kenneth Branagh is directing Thor which is scheduled for release June 17, 2011.
