Alexander Payne is Downsizing
The Trades are confirming news from a couple of days ago that Paul Giamatti, Sacha Baron Cohen and Reese Witherspoon are in negotiations to star in Downsizing to be directed by Alexander Payne.
In the movie, Giamatti would play a man who, when faced with financial difficulties, decides he can have a much nicer life if he undergoes a process to shrink himself. Witherspoon would play a woman Giamatti meets on his journey as a miniature person. Baron Cohen would play a miniature foreigner.
The project will mark Payne’s first directing gig since making Sideways (also starring Giamatti) in 2004. Witherspoon previously worked with Payne on Election.
