Marley and Me Tops Box Office

Marley and Me was the top movie at the box office this weekend. Based on the bestselling book, the movie starring Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson earned $37 million from Friday to Sunday. Since opening Thursday, the movie has grossed $51.6 million.

Finishing in 2nd spot for the weekend was the Adam Sandler comedy Bedtime Stories which earned $28 million. The movie has grossed $38.5 million since opening Thursday.

In 3rd was The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with $27 million. The movie, starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, has earned $39 million since opening Christmas day.

In 4th was the Tom Cruise WWII movie Valkyrie which brought in more than $21.5 million for the weekend. The movie has $30 million since opening Thursday.

Last weekend’s top movie, the Jim Carrey comedy Yes Man fell to 5th spot with $16.4 million. The movie has earned $49.5 million in 2 weekends of release.

The only other new release to crack the top 10 was Frank Miller’s The Spirit which earned $6.5 million for a 9th place finish. The movie has earned $10.3 million since opening Thursday.
