TIFF Movie Review: The Wrestler
If you’ve been reading my daily recaps, you’ll know that, for whatever reason, I didn’t get in to see The Wrestler yesterday. Luckily, I have tickets to a screening later on this week and you can bet your ass I’ll be there.
However, we were lucky that Erin was in the theater yesterday to watch director Darren Aronofsky’s “sure to be around at Oscar time” film. The movie stars Mickey Rourke, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood and follows the story of aging professional wrestler Randy “The Ram” Robinson as he deals with life outside the ring after suffering a heart attack after a match. The Wrestler was picked up this week by Fox Searchlight and is currently without a release date.
