Spider-Man 4 in May 2011
While speaking this week with theater owners from California and Nevada, producer Laura Ziskin revealed that a fourth installment of the Spider-Man franchise is currently (albeit tentatively) scheduled for a May 2011 release.
The remarks come on the heels of rumors which started last month that a script from writer James Vanderbit (Zodiac) could actually encompass two films. Ziskin revealed that there isn’t a finished screenplay, but that Sony is hopeful that a fourth film could be ready for 2011.
In an interview earlier this month with SciFi.com, director Sam Raimi expressed interest in returning to the character and excitement at the prospect of reading the new script. At the present time, neither Raimi nor star Tobey Maguire are signed to do any more Spidey films.
