Oliver Stone Making George Bush Movie
Oliver Stone is looking to get his Bush off the ground with a film focusing on the life and presidency of George W. Bush. Josh Brolin is attached to star in the title role.
Stone has begun shopping a script by Stanley Weiser (completed before the WGA strike) with hopes of beginning production on the movie in April. The plan is to unveil his “Bush” in time for the elections later this year or at the latest the presidential inauguration in early 2009. Weiser previously co-wrote Wall Street with Stone.
Stone had been attached to direct Pinkville for United Artists but that project was put on hold due to the WGA strike — although Stone contends that the strike was an excuse to kill another war-themed movie that UA was wary of making after the failure of its first release, Lions for Lambs.
Brolin appeared last year in No Country for Old Men and American Gangster. He next stars with Sean Penn in director Gus Van Sant’s Milk.
