Winslet Replaces Kidman in The Reader
Kate Winslet will replace Nicole Kidman in The Reader for The Weinstein Co.
The drama follows a teen who falls for an enigmatic older woman in postwar Germany. Ralph Fiennes and David Kross also star in the movie which will be directed by Stephen Daldry based on the book by Bernhard Schlink. Kidman chose to drop out of the project after announcing this week that she was pregnant.
Winslet’s name had previously been attached to the role but, at the time, she was unable to do the movie due to a scheduling conflict with Revolutionary Road which reteams the actress with Titanic co-star Leonardo DiCaprio.
