Giovanni Ribisi Joins Avatar
Giovanni Ribisi has accepted a role in James Cameron’s Avatar. The movie stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver and Michelle Rodriguez.
The story revolves around a band of humans pitted against a distant planet’s indigenous inhabitants. Ribisi will play a passive-aggressive character named Selfridge. The movie, which will blend live-action with six computer-generated actors (known as “synthespians”), is set for release in 2009. Production is currently underway in Los Angeles and will move next month to New Zealand at Peter Jackson’s Weta Digital effects house.
Ribisi appeared earlier this year in Perfect Stranger with Halle Berry and Bruce Willis.
