Ridley Scott Directing Nottingham
Ridley Scott will direct Russell Crowe in Nottingham for Universal Pictures.
The movie, a revisionist take on the Robin Hood story, stars Crowe as the Sheriff of Nottingham. This version will see Nottingham as a noble and brave lawman who works for a corrupt king and engages in a love triangle with Maid Marion and Robin Hood. Universal bought the spec script by Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris earlier this year. Production will start in 2008.
Scott’s upcoming films include American Gangster starring Crowe and Denzel Washington. He’ll next direct Leonardo DiCaprio in a CIA thriller based on the David Ignatius novel Body of Lies. William Monahan is writing the script.
