Hoffman Joins KaufmanPhilip Seymour Hoffman, Catherine Keener and Michelle Williams are in negotiations to star in Synecdoche, New York for first-time feature director Charlie Kaufman.

In the movie Hoffman (Philip Seymour, that is) will play an ambitious theater director who attempts to put on a play by creating a life-size replica of New York inside a warehouse. Keener will play his first wife. Williams will play his second wife. Samantha Morton will play his sometime-lover. Tilda Swinton will portray Keener’s best friend and the dubious mentor to the daughter of Hoffman and Keener’s characters. Shoot is expected to begin this spring in New York.

Hoffman and Keener starred together in Capote. Keener also starred in Adaptation and Being John Malkovich — both written by Kaufman.
