Carrey/Carell Voicing Horton Hears a Who
Jim Carrey and Steve Carell will voice Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who for 20th Century Fox Animation.
Based on the book by Ted Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss) first published in 1954, Carrey will voice the role of the immortal Horton, the elephant who knows that a person’s a person, no matter how small while Carell will voice the Mayor of Who-ville, a distinguished figure of a very small size, too small to be seen by the elephant’s eyes.
Horton Hears a Who is about an imaginative elephant who hears a cry for help coming from a tiny speck of dust floating through the air. Suspecting there may be life on that speck and despite a surrounding community which thinks he has lost his mind, Horton is determined to help.
The movie marks Carrey’s return to Seuss. He previously played “The Grinch” in Universal’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas. However, Horton Hears a Who will mark the first time Carrey has lent his vocal stylings to bring a CGI animated character to life.
Twentieth Century Fox will release Horton Hears a Who on March 14, 2008. Jimmy Hayward and Steve Martino will direct from a script adaptation written by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio.
Twentieth Century Fox Animation is currently in production on The Simpsons Movie which is set for release in July 2007.
