Michelle Pfeiffer Joins Hairspray
Michelle Pfeiffer has signed to join New Line’s Hairspray for director Adam Shankman.
In the movie, Pfeiffer will play the villainous Velma von Tussel, a former Miss Baltimore Crabs beauty queen-turned-bitter Baltimore TV station owner. She joins John Travolta, Queen Latifah, Amanda Bynes, Zac Efron and Nikki Blonsky who’ll play Tracy Turnblad. Shankman is directing from a script by Leslie Dixon. Shooting is schedule to begin in September in Toronto for a December 2007 release. Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman are writing new songs for the movie including one for Pfeiffer. She last sang on film in The Fabulous Baker Boys.
Pfeiffer is currently shooting Stardust for director Matthew Vaughn.
