Angelina Jolie has A Mighty Heart
Angelina Jolie will play Mariane Pearl in A Mighty Heart for Paramount Vantage.
The movie is an adaptation of Pearl’s memoir about the kidnapping and murder of her journalist husband Daniel Pearl by Pakistani militants. The memoir details Mariane Pearl’s search to locate her husband after he went missing in Pakistan. Also a journalist, she was pregnant at the time. The drama ended as Pearl was murdered by his abductors, suspected to be Muslim terrorists tied to Al Qaeda.
Michael Winterbottom is finalizing a deal to direct with shooting scheduled to begin within the next five weeks from a script Winterbottom wrote with Laurence Coriat. Brad Pitt’s Plan B is producing. The movie was originally set up at Warner Bros. but moved to Paramount when Pitt relocated Plan B there.
Jolie was announced earlier this week to be voicing a character in DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda. She’ll star later this year with Matt Damon in Robert De Niro’s The Good Shepherd and will star in Robert Zemeckis’ Beowulf which Paramount will release in fall 2007.
