Zac Efron Joins Hairspray
Zac Efron has been cast as Link, the hunky heartthrob of “The Corny Collins Show” in New Line’s Hairspray.
The adaptation of the Broadway musical (itself based on the John Waters film) stars John Travolta as play Edna Turnblad and Queen Latifah as Motormouth Maybelle. Nicole Blonsky recently won the role of Tracy Turnblad after a nationwide casting search. Adam Shankman will direct. Shooting is expected to begin in early September.
Efron’s credits include the Disney Channel’s High School Musical.
