Ryan Phillippe in Stop-Loss
Ryan Phillippe is in negotiations to star the Iraq war drama Stop-Loss for Paramount Pictures and director Kimberly Peirce.
In the movie, Phillippe would play a soldier who returns home to Texas and is called to duty again in Iraq through the military’s “stop-loss” procedure. He then refuses to return to battle. Abbie Cornish has already signed on to play the female lead. Paramount is eyeing a late-summer start date.
Peirce last directed Boys Don’t Cry starring Hilary Swank and Chloe Sevigny. Phillippe next stars in Flags of Our Father for Clint Eastwood and Breach, with Chris Cooper.
