Wright/Def in Little Scarlet
Jeffrey Wright and Mos Def will star as Easy Rawlins and Mouse in Little Scarlet for HBO Films.
Based on the Walter Mosley novel, Little Scarlet takes place in L.A. right after the 1965 Watts riots. White cops, afraid to poke into the murder of a black woman when the suspect is a white man she sheltered, draft Rawlins to investigate. Denzel Washington and Don Cheadle originated the roles of Easy Rawlins and Mouse respectively in the 1995 film Devil in a Blue Dress. Wright and Def haven’t decided who’ll play which role. Mosley is writing the script with HBO Films planning a theatrical release through Picturehouse.
Wright next stars with Paul Giamatti in M. Night Shyamalan’s Lady in the Water. He is currently shooting Casino Royale. Mos Def last starred with Bruce Willis in 16 Blocks.
