Starbucks Saves Tom Hanks
Tom Hanks will star in How Starbucks Saved My Life for Universal Pictures and director Gus Van Sant.
Based on a soon to be published memoir by Michael Gates Gill, the story follows a former J. Walter Thompson exec who finds himself down and out when he is downsized out of a job. In his 60s and in a personal tailspin because of an affair that ended his marriage, he sees his luck change when he enters a Starbucks and walks out with a job offer from the store’s manager, giving his life new purpose. Hanks will also produce through his Playtone production company.
Hanks next stars in The Da Vinci Code. Beyond that, he begins production in September on Charlie Wilson’s War with Julia Roberts and director Mike Nichols.
