Benicio Del Toro is The Wolf Man
Benicio Del Toro will play The Wolf Man in Universal Pictures’ new version of its horror classic.
Like the 1941 original, the new movie will be set in Victorian England. Del Toro will play a man who returns from America to his ancestral homeland, gets bitten by a werewolf and begins a hairy moonlight existence. Andrew Kevin Walker (Se7en) has begun writing the script. Walker will turn in his first draft by the spring with hopes that the movie will go before cameras in early 2007.
The deal came out of a series of meetings with the producers, Walker and Del Toro, who is a collector of Wolf Man memorabilia. Del Toro is currently shooting Guerrilla, the Che Guevara film being directed by Steven Soderbergh.
