Bernie Mac Joining PDR
Bernie Mac is in final negotiations to star with Terrence Howard in PDR for Lionsgate.
The movie tells the real-life story of Jim Ellis (Howard), who in the 1970s transformed a group of troubled inner-city kids into one of the best swim teams in the country. Bernie Mac will play the janitor who, with Howard, fights the closing of a rec center and helps turn it into a vital community center. Sunu Gonera will direct from a script by Michael Gozzard and Kevin M. Smith. Shooting is scheduled to begin in late April.
The role will mark Bernie Mac’s first role in a big-screen drama. His previous credits include Ocean’s 11 & 12, Bad Santa and Mr. 3000.
