David Bowie Joins The Prestige
For some, it will come as good news that David Bowie will have a role in an upcoming movie. Sadly, some younger readers will be left asking, “David who?”.
Bowie in talks to play inventor Nikola Tesla in director Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige. The thriller stars Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale in a tale of rival magicians in early 20th century London. The Tesla character is based on the real-life Serbian-American who discovered the rotating magnetic field. Michael Caine also stars as a retired magician who teaches tricks to Jackman’s character.
The script is based on the 1996 Christopher Priest novel of the same name and was adapted by Nolan’s brother, Jonathan. Shooting is scheduled to begin in January. Disney will distribute domestically with Warner Bros. handling international rights.
