Scarlett Johansson is a Gladiatrix
First Milla Jovovich as a sex slave and now Scarlett Johansson as an Amazon warrior. Say what you will about Hollywood making shitty movies, but you can’t really argue casting like that.
Signature Pictures has made a deal to finance Amazon as a starring vehicle for Scarlett Johansson. In the movie, Johansson will play a gladiatrix from 200 B.C. who exacts vengeance on an army that destroyed her homeland.
FUnnily enough, the idea for the movie came from Johansson herself, who mentioned it to writers Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci while working together on The Island. Kurtzman and Orci will serve as producers on the project. Dirk Blackman and Howard McCain will write the script.
Johansson’s upcoming credits include the Brian De Palma-directed The Black Dahlia and a couple of Woody Allen movies.
