Douglas is King of California
Michael Douglas will star in The King of California to be produced by the Sideways team of Alexander Payne and Michael London.
In the comedy, a young girl’s teenage years are complicated by an eccentric and manic-depressive father who becomes obsessed with his belief that there’s buried treasure in the San Fernando Valley. Michael Cahill will make his directorial debut on the project. Cahill is best known for his Faulkner Prize-winning novel A Nixon Man. Shooting on the project will begin in February.
Douglas is currently filming Universal’s You, Me and Dupree with Owen Wilson, Kate Hudson and Matt Dillon. He recently completed The Sentinel opposite Kiefer Sutherland, Eva Longoria and Kim Basinger, due to be released next spring.
