Jon Favreau is a renaissance man. The Leonardo Da Vinci of our time. There isn’t anything he can’t do.
He wrote, co-produced and starred in Swingers. He continues to act in some decent movies and he’s done some great TV shows including a brief recurring role on Friends. He’s played some Texas Hold’em on Celebrity Poker Showdown. He directed Will Ferrell in the instant holiday classic Elf and later this year he’ll unleash his next directorial effort, the long-awaited Zathura. Now, news that Favreau will write and produce the CG-animated feature Neanderthals for Sony Pictures Animation.
In comedic fashion, details of the storyline are currently unavailable as they are, according to Sony, “being kept in a cave under a large boulder protected by a mastodon.”
In addition to Zathura, Favreau’s upcoming credits include voice work in Open Season (also for Sony Animation) and a role in The Break-Up with Jennifer Aniston and frequent collaborator Vince Vaughn. He’s also set to direct John Carter of Mars for Paramount Pictures.
