Kirsten Dunst in Marla Ruzicka Biopic
Kirsten Dunst will play Marla Ruzicka in a film about the 28-year-old American relief worker who was killed in Iraq by a suicide bomber.
Ruzicka raised $28 million through the organization she founded, the Campaign for Innocent Victims of Conflict, to assist scores of civilian casualties after the Iraq and Afghanistan invasions. She compiled lists of war victims and sought compensation and medical treatment from the U.S. government. Ruzicka and her driver were killed in April when a suicide bomber crashed into a security convoy they were trailing.
The movie is being produced through Paramount Pictures and MTV Films from a script to be written by Lorene Scafaria whose recent credits include The Mighty Flynn for Warner Independent Pictures and Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist for Focus. She’s also writing a script based on her pitch The Understanding for Universal and just sold a TV show to ABC and Touchstone, which Chris and Paul Weitz will produce.
Dunst is currently in theaters with Elizabethtown. She can next be seen in Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette and Spider-Man 3.
