Owen Wilson is Walter Mitty
Owen Wilson is in final negotiations to play the title role in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
The tough road to getting the movie made, however, has been anything but secret. Over the last several years, the likes of Jim Carrey, Steven Spielberg and Ron Howard have been attached in various capacities to no avail.
A remake of the 1947 film starring Danny Kaye, the movie follows the title character, a quintessential daydreamer, whose vivid imagination allows him to escape from the mundane constraints of his ordinary life. However, word is that the new Mitty will be more akin to the original 1939 James Thurber story than to the 1947 film version.
Mark Waters will direct for Paramount Pictures. Owen Wilson can be seen this weekend in Wedding Crashers.
