Sophie Okonedo in ’The Martian Child’
Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda), Oliver Platt and Bobby Coleman have joined the cast of New Line’s The Martian Child.
In the movie, Okonedo will play a social worker who persuades a widowed writer (to be played by John Cusack) to adopt a young boy (Coleman) who believes he is a Martian. Platt will Cusack’s agent, who is frustrated as his client’s attention turns away from his writing and toward his strange new adopted son.
Shooting on the project is scheduled to begin Monday. Menno Meyjes will direct from a script by Jonathan Tollins and Seth Bass and based on a short story by David Gerrold.
Okonedo will next appear in Aeon Flux opposite Charlize Theron.
