Sarah Jessica Parker in ’Slammer’
I was just saying the other day (read here) that there seems to be a move towards prison movies with The Longest Yard, You Are Going To Prison and Stealing Cars. If that weren’t enough, we’ve got news today of a movie that’ll put Sarah Jessica Parker behind bars.
The former Sex and the City star has signed to play the lead role in director Adam Shankman’s dark comedy Slammer. In the movie, Parker will play a pushy publicist who is wrongly imprisoned on the charge she took fashion freebies meant for clients and turned them over to knockoff artists for mass production. Once in prison, she produces an inmate musical.
The script, by Sara Goodman, is based on a story by Tim Metcalfe and John Slotnick.
Production on the movie is expected to begin next February after Shankman completes work on the sequel to Cheaper by the Dozen.
Parker is currently filming The Family Stone and will follow that up with Failure to Launch starring opposite Matthew McConaughey.
