Brian Levant Directing ’Mr. Lucky’Blue Star Pictures and Revolution Studios have signed veteran comedy director Brian Levant to direct Cedric the Entertainer starrer “Mr. Lucky”.

Levant (“Beethoven,” “The Flintstones”) recently wrapped shooting on Revolution’s Ice Cube comedy “Are We There Yet?”, which is scheduled for a January release.

Cedric will play Malcolm Crowley, a former Vegas high roller now broke and living contentedly at a spiritual retreat in the Tibetan Himalayas. He’s mistaken for a multimillionaire, whisked away to the brand new Everest Casino in Las Vegas and given a $2 million credit line. Before the hotel realizes its mistake, he’s won $15 million.

“Mr. Lucky” was written by Herbert Ratner III from his own pitch and rewritten by Steve Pink.

The movie is expected to start production in the spring.
