Movie Review: Stuck On YouBob (Matt Damon) and Walt (Greg Kinnear) are co-joined twins who run a restaurant in a small town in Massachusetts. Walt has aspirations to become an actor and convinces Bob to move to Hollywood where they meet the voluptuous April (Eva Mendes). They meet Meryl Streep, Walt gets a part in a television series with Cher and Bob meets the love of his life, May (Wen Yann Shih), with whom he has had an internet relationship for three years.

Stuck on You is directed by the Farrelly Brothers, the duo who are most famous for their highly successful gross-out comedy There’s Something About Mary and the equally successful Dumb and Dumber. Although Stuck on You has a handful of laugh out loud moments, you get the impression that the brothers never really let loose and thus, the movie never really gets the laughs that one may hope. There is a lot to like about the movie – Damon and Kinnear are a capable pair and often times quite funny. They work well together and I like how their characters are so accepting of their situation. Of course there are many hilarious situations where their “disability” becomes an issue (or an advantage). Eva Mendes looks fine and has no problem showing of her assets. Cher is the perfect bitch – she looks surprisingly good in the movie and she seems to have pretty good comedic timing (one scene with her in bed watching Jay Leno is amusing).

Unfortunately, the movie is not full of laughs. The co-joined situation is never really fully taken advantage of and the two hour running time is long for a movie that is not as funny as one would hope. A few jokes just do not get off the ground – the mentally challenged waiter and the scumbag agent – yet they keep popping up throughout the movie. The movie ends with a rather painful musical note which really doesn’t help matters.

At best, I would say Stuck on You is rental material. Anytime the Farrelly Brothers come out with a movie, many of us hope for something gross, something original, something with laugh after laugh after laugh. We hope for another “gel” scene, another zipper scene or another diarrhea scene. Stuck on You has none of the above. It is nothing more than an average footnote into the once marvelous Farrelly Brother memoirs. (5 out of 10)
